Supreme Court Criticizes Ranveer Allahbadia for Vulgar Remarks but Grants Protection from Arrest

The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, strongly criticized YouTube personality Ranveer Allahbadia for making inappropriate remarks on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent show. The court called his behavior unacceptable and said it should be condemned. The judges mentioned that Allahbadia seemed to have “something very dirty” in his mind, which he “vomited” during the show.
The court stated that just because someone is popular, they cannot take society for granted. “Is there anyone who would accept this language? There’s something very dirty in his mind that came out. Why should we protect him?” the court remarked, as reported by Bar and Bench.
Ranveer Allahbadia had approached the Supreme Court to challenge the FIRs filed against him for his comments on the show. He also requested the clubbing of all FIRs filed against him. Relief from Arrest
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotiswar Singh heard the case. While the court criticized his actions, it also provided some relief to Allahbadia by protecting him from arrest. Additionally, the court directed him to refrain from airing any further episodes of his YouTube shows.
Remarks Described as “Perverted”
Justice Kant, during the hearing, said that Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments showed a “perverted mind.” He added, “The words you used will make parents and sisters feel ashamed. The whole society will be embarrassed. The perversion you and your followers have shown is disturbing.” The justice emphasized that India has a judicial system bound by law and if Allahbadia faces any threats, the legal process will be followed.
Court’s Directives
The Supreme Court also imposed additional conditions on Allahbadia. It ordered him to submit his passport and not leave the country without prior court permission.
Justice Kant said, “If any other FIR is filed against him on the same issue in Jaipur, his arrest will remain stayed. He must deposit his passport at the Thane police station and cannot leave India without the court’s approval.”
