Sadhguru’s Call for Mental Health Awareness

Indian yogi Sadhguru has emphasized the importance of mental health and encouraged people to prioritize their own well-being, as well as the well-being of those around them. He hopes his new meditation app, Miracle of Mind, will help three billion people worldwide.
App’s Rapid Success
Launched on February 26, Miracle of Mind quickly gained attention, reaching over one million downloads in just 15 hours. This achievement surpassed ChatGPT’s one million downloads, which took five days after its 2022 launch. Within two weeks, the app crossed 1.9 million downloads.
A Simple Meditation for Mental Wellness
The app, which is available for free, offers a straightforward seven-minute meditation focused on conscious breathing to promote well-being. Sadhguru remarked, “Mental health is fragile, and we must protect it. Just like your physical health can change overnight, mental health can too.” He emphasized the importance of taking responsibility for one’s own mental health and helping others do the same.
Reaching Three Billion People
Sadhguru’s goal is to reach three billion people with the app, encouraging them to meditate for just seven minutes a day. “This can subtly change the world. If three billion people are calmer, the world will be a better place for all,” he said.
Sadhguru’s Global Influence
Known as Jaggi Vasudev, Sadhguru has a massive following, with over a billion views on YouTube and 13 million followers on Instagram. He frequently shares wellness and environmental advice, and his meditation sessions attract tens of thousands of people in India and worldwide, including in the UAE.
App’s Focus on Mental Health
The Miracle of Mind app offers a seven-minute guided meditation, often accompanied by calming music, to help with anxiety and stress. Sadhguru pointed out, “Too many people today feel like their brain is their enemy.” He also noted that mental health issues, once seen as affecting others, now impact many people directly.
Raising Awareness for Mental Health Solutions
According to the World Health Organization, one in eight people suffer from a mental health condition. Sadhguru’s goal with the app is to raise awareness and provide solutions for managing stress, anxiety, and loneliness—often triggered by digital burnout.
Making Wellness Accessible to All
The app is designed to help users access peace, joy, and emotional balance, with Sadhguru guiding them through breathing exercises. While mental health solutions are often viewed as costly or time-consuming, Sadhguru aims to make wellness accessible to everyone with this free tool.
App Features and Functionality
The app features seven-minute guided sessions with an option to extend up to 21 minutes. Users can also ask questions, receiving AI-powered responses from Sadhguru.
Support from Experts and Ongoing Research
Developed by a team of volunteer coders at Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation, the Miracle of Mind app is being studied by experts from Harvard. Dr. Balachundhar Subramaniam, a Harvard Medical School professor, praised the app’s meditation practices for improving sleep and social interactions. Studies also show that the app helps reduce stress and improve mood among healthcare providers using a 15-minute version.
Future Research Plans
Research into the effectiveness of the Miracle of Mind app is ongoing, with plans for larger studies to continue exploring its potential benefits.
