The stock market in India will remain closed for three days in April 2025 due to Mahavir Jayanti, Ambedkar Jayanti, and Good Friday. On these days, there will be no trading in equities, derivatives, SLBs, currency derivatives, and interest rate derivatives.
These holidays are announced every year in advance by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The first market holiday this month is on Thursday, 10th April 2025, for Shri Mahavir Jayanti.
The next holiday will be on Monday, 14th April 2025, for Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti.

Please note: On October 21, 2025 (Tuesday), the markets will remain closed during the day for Diwali Laxmi Pujan, but Muhurat Trading will take place in the evening. The exact timing of Muhurat Trading will be shared by the exchanges through a circular closer to the date.
Usually, stock market trading happens from Monday to Friday, and remains closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays declared in advance.
MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) Holidays – April 2025:
- On 10th April (Mahavir Jayanti) and 14th April (Ambedkar Jayanti), only the morning session of MCX will remain closed.
The evening session will be open from 5:00 PM to 11:30/11:55 PM. - On 18th April (Good Friday), both morning and evening sessions of MCX will be closed.
