ED Raids Former CM Bhupesh Baghel’s House in Chhattisgarh
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted a raid at the residence of Bhupesh Baghel, the former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and a senior Congress leader. The raid is ongoing at his house in Bhilai, which started early in the morning. In addition to Bhupesh Baghel’s home, the ED has also raided 14 other locations, including the residence of his son, Chaitanya Baghel.
Reason for the Raid
The ED’s action is reportedly linked to financial irregularities and money laundering investigations. The raid took place at Baghel’s bungalow in Bhilai’s Three Mansarovar Colony. The ED team arrived at 7 AM in three Innova cars and started their search inside the bungalow. As news of the raid spread, Congress workers began gathering outside.
Congress Workers Protest
During the ED’s operation, there was a brief clash between Congress workers and CRPF personnel who were providing security. The Congress supporters raised slogans against the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Media personnel were also restricted from covering the raid, which led to further protests. However, the situation calmed down shortly afterward.
Further ED Action Across 14 Locations

Along with Baghel’s house, the ED carried out raids at multiple locations, including the homes of several businessmen. This action follows investigations into alleged financial scams involving the Chhattisgarh liquor scam, coal levy scam, and the online betting Mahadev app. Many of Bhupesh Baghel’s close associates and officials have already been arrested in connection with these cases.
Bhupesh Baghel Responds on Social Media
After the raid, a post was shared from Bhupesh Baghel’s official Twitter account. The post stated, “After seven years of false cases, the court dismissed them. Today, the ED officials arrived at Bhupesh Baghel’s residence in Bhilai. If someone thinks this conspiracy will stop Congress in Punjab, it’s a misunderstanding.”

It is worth mentioning that Bhupesh Baghel was recently appointed as the in-charge of Congress in Punjab.
ED’s Investigation Into Alleged Scams
The ED is investigating Bhupesh Baghel’s involvement in the Chhattisgarh liquor scam, coal levy scam, and Mahadev app betting scam, which have been ongoing for over two years. Several of his close associates and officials have been arrested in these cases. This is the first time the ED has raided Baghel’s home, though they have previously questioned his family and associates regarding these allegations.
