Apple Launches iPhone 16e: The Most Affordable iPhone of 2025
Apple has introduced the iPhone 16e, the latest and most affordable member of the iPhone 16 family. It serves as a successor to the iPhone SE 3, continuing the “Special Edition” concept under a new name. While Apple has dropped the SE branding, the iPhone 16e brings fresh features and a more regular update cycle, unlike the unpredictable SE series.

The iPhone 16e combines modern technology, such as Apple’s latest silicon, a 5G modem, and AI features, all packed into a design based on the iPhone 14. The goal is to offer a newer, more affordable iPhone.
Here’s a breakdown of the iPhone 16e in 10 key points:
1. Design
The iPhone 16e design is inspired by the now-discontinued iPhone 14 (2022). It features a matte-finish “toughened” glass back and a Ceramic Shield front cover for added protection. The metal frame is IP68 rated, meaning it’s resistant to water and dust. It comes in two color options: black and white.
2. Display

The iPhone 16e sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. It offers a peak brightness of 800 nits (1200 nits for HDR content) and a 60Hz refresh rate. The phone retains the iPhone 14-style notch, which houses the TrueDepth camera system for Face ID.
3. Processor
The device is powered by Apple’s new A18 chip, featuring a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for enhanced performance and efficiency.
4. RAM
The iPhone 16e comes with 8GB of RAM to handle Apple’s advanced AI features smoothly.
5. Storage
You can choose from three storage options for the iPhone 16e: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
6. Camera

The iPhone 16e has a 48MP rear camera with an f/1.6 lens and optical image stabilization (OIS). It features a 2x telephoto mode and promises high-quality optical zoom. The camera also supports Night Mode and can record 4K Dolby Vision video at 60fps, with Spatial Audio. The front camera is 12MP for sharp selfies.
7. Modem
The iPhone 16e is equipped with Apple’s first in-house 5G modem, called C1. While it’s designed to be power-efficient and provide fast, reliable 5G connectivity, it does not support millimeter-wave (mmWave) 5G. Apple has not yet confirmed the full capabilities of this modem.
8. Battery and Charging
Apple claims the 16e offers exceptional battery life, lasting up to six hours longer than the iPhone 11 and 12 hours longer than all iPhone SE models. It supports fast charging and wireless charging, though it lacks MagSafe. 9. Connectivity
The 16e supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.3. It also charges via USB Type-C.
10. Price and Availability
The iPhone 16e is priced at Rs 59,900 for the 128GB model, Rs 69,900 for the 256GB version, and Rs 89,900 for the 512GB variant. The phone will be available in stores and online starting February 28, with pre-orders beginning on February 21.
This new model from Apple combines affordability with modern features, making it a great option for those looking for a budget-friendly iPhone in 2025.
