Mukesh Ambani Meets Donald Trump at State Dinner in Qatar

On May 15, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani met US President Donald Trump at Lusail Palace in Doha, Qatar. The two met during a state dinner hosted by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in honour of President Trump.
Ambani was seen greeting both Trump and the Qatari Emir warmly before heading inside for dinner. He also had a friendly conversation with US Secretary of Commerce Steve Lutnick at the event.
Qatar and Reliance Business Ties

Over the years, Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund (QIA) has invested in several Reliance businesses. Earlier in February, the Emir of Qatar visited India and committed to invest $10 billion in various Indian industries.
Second Meeting Between Ambani and Trump
This was Mukesh Ambani’s second meeting with Donald Trump since he became US President. Earlier in January, Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani had attended a special pre-inauguration dinner hosted for Trump in the US. They were part of a select group of 100 guests at the exclusive candlelit event.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, also attended the Doha state dinner, although he arrived 30 minutes late. According to the Washington Post, Musk used a “chat and cut” tactic to move ahead in the receiving line.

- Antonio Gracias, a close friend of Elon Musk
Trump’s Middle East Tour and Message on Iran
Qatar was the second stop in President Trump’s Middle East tour, which also included Saudi Arabia and the UAE. During the state dinner, Trump urged Qatar to use its influence over Iran, requesting them to help the US in persuading Iran to reduce its nuclear activities.
