Meghalaya Police Arrest Wife and 3 Others in Indore’s Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case

Meghalaya Police have made a major breakthrough in the famous Raja Raghuvanshi murder case from Indore. Within just seven days, the police arrested four people, including Raja’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi. The shocking case reveals that Sonam allegedly hired contract killers to murder her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.
Couple Went Missing on 23 May
Raja Raghuvanshi and his newlywed wife Sonam, both from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, went on a trip to Guwahati, Assam, and then to East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. On 23 May, they visited a temple and later went to Osara Hills near Cherrapunji. That same day, they went missing. After speaking to their families around noon, their phones were switched off.
From 24 to 25 May, family members kept trying to contact them, but got no response. Later, it was discovered that their rented vehicle was found abandoned. On 26 May, their families reached Shillong and reported them missing, and soon the news went viral across the country.
Police Investigation and Discovery
On 28 May, police searched the homestay where the couple had stayed and found their bags. With the help of sniffer dogs, the police intensified the search operation. Despite checking the GPS location of the scooty the couple had used, no clue was found.
Finally, on 2 June, Raja Raghuvanshi’s dead body was found in a 150-foot-deep gorge. The body was decomposed. A drone and sniffer dogs were used to trace the location. His body was sent for post-mortem examination. Also read: Rinku Singh Gets Engaged to MP Priya Saroj in Lucknow.
Sonam Found in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh
While the investigation continued, Sonam Raghuvanshi was found in a disturbed mental state near a roadside dhaba in Ankushapur, Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh). According to SP City Gyanendra Nath Prasad, she was found crying and looked mentally unstable around 1–2 AM. The dhaba owner informed the police through the emergency number 112. The police took her to the medical college for treatment.
At the hospital, she identified herself as Sonam. After treatment, she was shifted to a One Stop Centre for women. During police questioning, she wasn’t able to speak much but kept requesting to talk to her brother. Even earlier at the dhaba, she had asked to make a phone call and spoke to her brother briefly.
Arrests and Police Statement
On Monday, a senior police officer informed that the special investigation team (SIT) had arrested three more people along with Sonam in connection with Raja’s murder. All of them were arrested from Indore. The investigation revealed that Sonam had planned her husband’s murder by hiring contract killers.
