Stock Market Closure on February 26, 2025
The Indian stock markets, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will be closed on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in observance of Maha Shivratri. This will be the first trading holiday for the BSE and NSE in 2025.

What is Maha Shivratri?
Maha Shivratri is an important Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is celebrated between February and March every year and falls on the fourteenth day of the first half of the lunar month of Phalguna according to the Hindu calendar.
No Trading Activity on February 26
On February 26, there will be no trading in equities, derivatives, or commodity markets. However, trading will resume as usual on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
Trading Holidays in 2025
The BSE and NSE have announced 14 trading holidays for 2025. These include:
- One holiday each in February, May, November, and December.
- Two holidays in March and August.
- Three holidays in April and October.
Some holidays will overlap with weekends, such as:
- Republic Day (January 26), Shri Ram Navami (April 6), and Muharram (July 6) which fall on Sundays.
- Bakri Id on Saturday, June 7.
Next Holiday After Maha Shivratri
The next stock market holiday will be on March 14, 2025, for the eve of Holi.
