Supreme Court Grants Bail and Protection to Ranveer Allahbadia

The Supreme Court granted bail to content creator Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as ‘BeerBiceps,’ but heavily criticized his controversial remarks made during the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. These comments sparked widespread outrage and led to multiple FIRs being filed against him.
Court’s Strong Criticism of Ranveer Allahbadia’s Remarks
The court condemned Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments, calling them “perverted” and “unacceptable.” Justice Surya Kant described his statements as “dirty” and said they would make parents, daughters, and society feel ashamed, emphasizing that they represented perverted thinking.
Defense by Lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud
Abhinav Chandrachud, the lawyer representing Allahbadia, argued that his client should not be arrested as multiple FIRs were filed over the same issue. He also mentioned the death threats received by Allahbadia. Despite admitting to being “disgusted” by the remarks, Chandrachud stated that profanity alone does not equate to criminal conduct.
Court Seeks Clarification on Obscenity
The court questioned what constitutes obscenity, and Chandrachud explained that mere profanity doesn’t define it. He referred to the Apoorva Arora case, where the Supreme Court ruled that obscenity involves content that excites lustful or sexual thoughts in a reasonable person.
