Sheikh Hasina, who used to be Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, is planning to come back to power, according to Dr Rabbi Alam. He’s the Vice President of the United States (USA) Awami League and a close friend of Hasina. Alam spoke to ANI and said he’s sure Hasina will return as Prime Minister. He doesn’t like the current government led by Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel Prize winner, and wants Yunus to step down. Alam said, “The young people made a mistake, but it’s not their fault—they were tricked.”

Alam thanked India for helping during Bangladesh’s tough times. He said, “Many Awami League leaders are safe in India, and we’re grateful to the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving our leader Sheikh Hasina a safe way to travel and a place to stay.” He also believes Bangladesh is facing a terrorist attack, not just a political problem, and wants the world to step in.
Meanwhile, things are getting tense in Bangladesh. A court in Dhaka told the government to take over Hasina’s house in Dhanmondi, called ‘Sudhasadan,’ and other properties owned by her family, like her son Sajib Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and sister Sheikh Rehana. The court also froze 124 bank accounts linked to her family. This order came from Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Ghalib after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) asked for it.
Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry wasn’t happy with Hasina’s comments. They sent a protest note to India’s Acting High Commissioner in Dhaka, saying her statements were “false and made-up.” They asked India to stop Hasina from posting such things on social media.
Back in January, Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) issued arrest warrants for Hasina and 10 others, including her former Defence Adviser Major General (retired) Tarique Ahmed Siddique and ex-police chief Benazir Ahmed. They’re accused of illegal killings and making people disappear.
The trouble in Bangladesh started on August 5, 2024, when students protested and forced Hasina out after weeks of violence that killed over 600 people. She escaped to India, and Muhammad Yunus took charge of a temporary government. Hasina, who’s been living in India since then, criticized Yunus’s government. She promised to return and make sure the families of those killed in the July-August protests get justice. She said, “I’ll help every victim’s family and make sure the killers are punished. Maybe that’s why Allah has kept me alive.” Hasina had ruled Bangladesh with her Awami League for 16 years before she was forced out.
