Tejasvi Surya and Sivasri Skandaprasad’s Wedding
On March 6, BJP MP from Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya, married renowned Carnatic vocalist Sivasri Skandaprasad in a private ceremony attended by close family members and friends. The wedding was followed by a grand reception at Gayatri Vihar Grounds in Bengaluru.
Who is Sivasri Skandaprasad?
Sivasri Skandaprasad is a versatile artist, well-known for her expertise in Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, and visual arts. She comes from a musically rich family and trained under Guru A.S. Murali. Sivasri has performed at prestigious platforms like Brahma Gana Sabha and Kartik Fine Arts. Additionally, she has represented India in cultural exchange programs in Denmark and South Korea.
Sivasri is academically accomplished with a bioengineering degree from SASTRA University and a master’s in Bharatanatyam from the University of Madras. She has also studied Sanskrit and earned a diploma in Ayurvedic cosmetology, further broadening her diverse skill set.

Traditional Attire for the Wedding
Both Sivasri and Tejasvi Surya opted for traditional, modest attire on their special day. Sivasri wore a bright yellow Kanchipuram silk sari, accessorized with golden bangles, maang tikka, earrings, and a classic bridal hairstyle. Tejasvi was dressed in a traditional gold and white outfit, which perfectly complemented Sivasri’s look. The first photos from the wedding soon spread on social media, with many political leaders extending their congratulations.

While the wedding was a private event, several BJP leaders attended the ceremony. Among them were Annamalai, Pratap Simha, Amit Malaviya, Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra, and Union Minister V Somanna. They later shared glimpses of the celebration on social media, congratulating the newlyweds.
Post-Wedding Rituals and Reception
After the traditional wedding ceremony, Tejasvi Surya and Sivasri Skandaprasad are set to host a grand reception at the Gayatri Vihar Grounds in Bengaluru. The post-wedding rituals included Kashi Yatra, Jeerige Bella Muhurtha, and Laja Home. Jeerige Bella is an important South Indian wedding ritual, while Laja Home is a tradition where the bride offers fried grains to the sacred fire as part of the ceremony.
