Police Complaint Against Vijay Thalapathy for Alleged Disrespect at Iftar Event

Tamil film star Vijay Thalapathy is facing a police complaint for allegedly disrespecting Muslims during an Iftar event held in Chennai on Friday. The Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath filed the complaint, accusing the actor of inviting inappropriate guests and allowing disrespectful behavior during the event. The complaint was officially registered at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office.
Allegations of Inappropriate Guests and Behavior
The complaint claims that Vijay’s event was offensive to the Muslim community. The presence of “drunkards and rowdies,” who had no connection to fasting or the Iftar tradition, is said to have been inappropriate for such an occasion. Syed Kous, the treasurer of Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath, expressed their concerns, saying, “Muslims were insulted at Vijay’s Iftar program. The participation of drunkards and rowdies was a clear insult to the religious significance of the event.”
Criticism of Event Organization and Security
Syed Kous also criticized the manner in which the event was organized, stating that it was done in a “hurtful manner” and that Vijay Thalapathy showed no regret for the negative aspects of the gathering. Additionally, Syed accused Vijay’s security guards of mistreating the attendees, remarking, “The foreign guards treated people like cows.”
Demands for Legal Action
The complaint also pointed out the lack of proper arrangements at the event and Vijay Thalapathy ’s failure to address the raised concerns. Syed clarified that the complaint was not filed for publicity, but to ensure such incidents don’t happen in the future. “Legal action should be taken against Vijay to prevent this from happening again,” he urged.
Vijay’s Participation in the Iftar Event
Vijay Thalapathy organized the Iftar at the Royapettah YMCA grounds, where he joined in the prayers and broke his fast with the attendees. He wore a skull cap and participated fully in the event, which included prayers and shared meals. Pictures and videos from the gathering quickly spread on social media, with some praising his display of secularism, while others criticized it as political appeasement.
